Year 1 Assembly
Thank you very much to Year 1 for their entertaining assembly telling the story of Little Red Riding Hood. A very funny and adjective filled adventure!
The next class assembly will be Reception and will take place on Friday 16th June at 9:10am. As always, parents and friends are invited to attend.
The Smarties Challenge is finishing soon! Please help your children to fill the empty tube with 20 pence pieces by giving them tasks. The class returning the highest percentage of tubes by 30th May will have a picnic in Valentines Park – it would be wonderful if this was able to be a whole school picnic.
Currently in the lead are Year 2!
The money raised will go to the PTFA to boost the profits from the summer fair. Our aim this year is to raise funds for computer tablets for the class rooms. This is a large project but with your help and everyone getting involved I am sure that we can succeed.
Plans are underway for the 2017 summer fair! The date of the summer fair is Friday 30th June and tickets will be on sale following the half term break. Any sponsorship from your companies or donations for the raffle would be grateful appreciated. Your class parents will be contacting you within the next few weeks to organise support. The first week back after half term will be bottle week when we ask for donations of any full bottle from ketchup to champagne for our ‘bottle stall’.
LAMDA Exam Results
We are pleased to announce fantastic results from the LAMDA exams. Our pupils received 29 Distinctions and 12 Merits! This year two pupils, Skye and Isabelle, achieved 100%, a first in the history of the school so extra well done to them! Gary and Cheryl have expressed their delight in these achievements and are proud and impressed at the quality, talent and work ethic of the pupils at our school. Well done to all and a big thank you to Gary and Cheryl for their hard work!
Forms should have now been returned for the half term Holiday Club. If you still have the form at home please make sure you return it to Mrs Johnson as soon as possible. It is important that we have accurate pupil numbers so that we can appropriately staff the club. Hard copies of the form are available outside the main office.
A reminder that children will return to school on Tuesday 6th June 2017, as Monday 5th June is a staff INSET day.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
The school is still collecting these vouchers. Please put them in the box outside the main school office.
Year 6 continue to display the lost property on Friday mornings for parents and pupils to look through and claim any lost items. After Friday 26th May, any items that have not been claimed will either be donated to charity shops or placed in the second hand uniform shop. Please take some time to check for any lost items over the next two Fridays.
To ensure the safety of our pupils, I would like to kindly ask that you close the school gates securely after you walk through them. These gates are guarded with a security code and any parent with a pupil at the school will have this code. Please do not be afraid to close the gates if you do not know the person behind you. Equally, please do not be offended if a parent closes the gate in front of you as they may not recognise you. We must all work together as a school community to keep our children safe. Thank you very much for your cooperation and help to ensure the safety of our pupils.
A reminder that the school is a ‘No Phone Zone’ and that mobile phones should not be used on the school premises.
New in the uniform shop are navy blue duffel coats which provide a warmer alternative to the coats that are currently stocked. These can be purchased on www.stevensons.co.uk for £79.
A reminder that pupils should only be wearing a school coat of regulation navy and not their own coat from home. Coats of other colours should not be worn.
We now have a very limited stock of swimming caps, KS1 & 2 bookbags and PE bags. Once that stock has gone you would need to order those items from our online school outfitters Stevensons (www.stevensons.co.uk). Year 2 parents, please note that from September, your child will be required to have a KS2 backpack and KS2 PE bag and you will also need to purchase the KS2 PE kit. As an aside, there are several items of very nice condition KS2 PE kit available from the recycled stock that we have on site.
Signing Out After School Club
Please remember to sign your children out when collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time that you have collected your child so that the after school club staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Unfortunately there were no classes with 100% attendance or punctuality this week. Congratulations to Year 5 for the lowest number for absences and to Year 2 for the lowest number of lates. I hope that next week there are more classes with 100% punctuality and attendance.
Please can you inform the office if you have any change in your contact details (email address, phone, address, etc.).
