Y6 SATs week
The next class assembly will be Year 1 and will take place on Friday 25th May at 9:10am. As always, parents and friends are invited to attend.
May Crowning of Our Lady
It is a Catholic tradition to honour Mary, our Mother, during the month of May by placing a crown of flowers on her statue. This lovely devotional ceremony is held in many parishes and schools worldwide. The May Crowning gives the children an opportunity to especially honour the Blessed Mother of Jesus, and to give thanks to her for bringing our Saviour into the world. Our school will be honouring Mary with a special prayer service and crowning on Friday 18th May at 9.10am.
Year 6 SATS
Next week the Year 6 pupils will be sitting the SATs (Standardised Attainment Tests). We wish them well as they complete this final exam of their primary school career.
Sun hats and water bottles
As the weather improves I would like to remind you of the importance of wearing a sun hat during play time and lunch time and bringing a water bottle to school every day. The sun hat should be the school regulation hat and can be bought from the school office for £4.00. Water bottles, which can be refilled through the day, should be clearly marked with the child’s name.
A letter has been sent out in regards to the PSHE Day trip to the Town hall to see the Mayor. Please ensure that the form is signed and returned to the class teacher. We are also looking for volunteer parents to accompany the classes on the day. If you do not have a letter, they can be found in the main office.
Our 1st Summer Concert was held on Tuesday 8th May in the Academy Hall. It showcased the talents within our school from Choir, Young Voices, Ballet, Irish dancing, Street dancing, Bollywood, Speech and drama and instrumentalists. Please see the attached newsletter for more details.
Staff are not allowed to administer or to measure out any medication. Therefore, children must be able to administer their medicine/pumps themselves and liquid medicine must be measured out ready for consumption when brought in. Exceptions may be made, after consultation, in the case of chronic illness e.g. chronic asthma, diabetes.
All medicines must be clearly labelled with the child’s name and details of dosage/administration and handed in to the office. Generally, only medicine prescribed by a doctor can be taken in school and this must be proven by the prescription label, however exceptions again can be made in the case of hayfever/allergy medication for example but again it must be clearly labelled and pre-measured.
If you think your child requires Calpol for any reason and it is not prescribed by a doctor, we will only allow this for one day. If you believe it is required for more than one day, then your child should be kept at home until they are well enough to attend school without medication.
N.B. Does the school have a telephone number where you or someone else can be contacted in an emergency?
Please inform the school immediately of any changes in address and/or
Signing Out After School Club
Please remember to sign your children out when collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time that you have collected your child so that the after school club staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Can I please remind everyone that the parking bays in the front of the school are for staff only and must not be used in the morning for dropping off. This is currently causing staff lateness which impacts on your own children.
Congratulation to Year 1 who had no absences this week. Congratulation to Year 6, Year 2 and Reception who had no lates this week. Hopefully next week we will have even more classes with no absences and no lates. Please be reminded that any term time absences should be requested and authorised by the headteacher using the absence request form which can be found in the main office.
