Welcome Back
Welcome back to the final half term of this academic school year. I trust that you all had a restful and relaxing break. This half term is filled with many exciting events and activities and I hope that all pupils will put forth their best efforts to finish off this year in a positive way!
Class Assemblies
The next class assembly will be Reception and will take place on Friday 22nd June at 9:10am. As always, parents and friends are invited to attend.
Celebration Day – 15th June 2018
We will be holding a full day of celebration on Friday 15th June 2018 and we hope that as many parents as possible will join us. The programme will be:-
- Sports Day at 9.00am
To be held at Cricklefields Athletic Ground, High Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1UE
We are hoping to commence the races at 9.00am and it would be very helpful if parents could take their children directly to the grounds by 8.50am and join us for this event. All permission slips should have been returned by today.
- Street Party Lunch
Weather permitting the children will come back to school following the end of sports day and have a street party style lunch set up in the playground.
- Summer Fair – 3.30pm – 7.00pm
There will be no afterschool club on this day to enable everyone to attend the annual summer fair. We will begin setting up for the fair once the lunch has finished. Further details on the attached letter.
Plans are underway and tickets are now on sale. Any sponsorship from your companies or donations for the raffle or stalls would be greatly appreciated. Your class parents will be contacting you within the next few weeks to organise support.
We are planning on running another parent v pupil match of rounders to close the evening. If you are interested in volunteering or playing in the match, please send an email to hroddy@urspsi.org.uk.
End of Year Assessments
Next week pupils in Years 1, 3, 4 & 5 will be taking their end of year assessments. These test all that they have learnt since September in Reading, Grammar and Spelling, Maths and Science. Pupils do not need to do any extra revision for the tests and they will be conducted in classes during the morning sessions. The results of the assessments will be sent out to you with their full report in July.
PEP Week
During the afternoons next week pupils will be celebrating PEP week, our Pupil Enrichment Programme. Pupils will come off timetable during the afternoons and spend time in their house groups. This year’s theme is ‘All around the world’.
Year 6 PGL trip
The Year 6 pupils have spent the week at the PGL camp in Marchant’s Hill. They have spent time completing activities such as zip wire, archery and abseiling amongst others. A full report will follow in next week’s newsletter and hopefully you have been following them on twitter.
Sun hats and water bottles
As the weather improves I would like to remind you of the importance of wearing a sun hat during play time and lunch time and bringing a water bottle to school every day. The sun hat should be the school regulation hat and can be bought from the school office for £4.00. Water bottles, which can be refilled through the day, should be clearly marked with the child’s name.
Signing Out After School Club
Please remember to sign your children out when collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time that you have collected your child so that the after school club staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Attendance
Unfortunately, there were no classes with 100% attendance this week. Congratulations to Year 2 for having everybody attending on time this week. I hope that next week there are more classes with 100% punctuality and attendance.
