A big thank you to Year 3 for a very informative assembly on teeth. Thank you also to the parents who came to support us. Our next class assembly will be Year 5 who will hold their class assembly on Friday 30th November at 9:10am. All parents are invited to attend.
St Cecilia Day Concert
Last night our Year 5&6 pupils took part in the local parish concert for St Cecilia, the patron saint of Music. They performed two songs along with SS Peter and Paul’s, The Ursuline Academy and The Palmer Catholic Academy. Not only was the singing and playing of instruments beautiful but their behaviour and respect for others was outstanding. A big thank you to Mr Harding for preparing them and to Mrs Pereira and Miss Sethi for accompanying them.
Nursery Trip to the Gruffalo
Trail What a day our Nursery children had at the Gruffalo Trail! There was so much for them to explore and they were thoroughly engaged when they were given the opportunity to interact with Lois, ‘The Ranger’. They were encouraged to use all of their senses as they ‘slithered like a snake’, created their own ‘log pile house for the mouse’ and made Gruffalo crumble. It was a fantastic day of fun filled activities!
Year 1&2 Trip to the Postal Museum
Following our learning journey of letter writing and the Meerkat Mail, Year 2 ventured out to visit The Postal Museum. We stepped back in time to 1843, where inventor Henry Cole created the very first Christmas card and learnt the story behind this invention. We had the opportunity to work within the Royal Mail in the sorting area, as well as have a tour around the Postal exhibition. As a bonus we saw a war memorial during our journey to the museum linking our learning of Remembrance Day in history! Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed our day out.
Energy Saving Month
Energy Saving Month is well underway! The Eco-committee are working hard to ensure that staff and pupils know ways that they can help us to save energy such as turning off lights and taps, ensuring computer screens are put on standby and closing any doors and windows. If we are able to save energy during this month there will be a special dress up day next term.
NO PHONE ZONE!
A reminder that our school is a No Phone Zone. Once you enter through the school gate phones should not be used for calls or anything else. This is to ensure the safety of our pupils at all times. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
The Christmas Fair will be held on Thursday December 13th from 4.00 – 7.00 pm.
If you have any ideas about the Christmas Fair or would like to assist in planning or helping at the event, we want to hear from you.
The aim of the Christmas Fair is to celebrate and enjoy with the entire Ursuline family of staff, parents and students. It is also an opportunity for us to raise funds for the school and our children. We are hoping all parents will help by reaching out to people they know to find donations of any kind (e.g. food, gifts) and/or sourcing businesses that may want to advertise or donate something for the Fair.
The Class Parents will be placing an empty box for donations towards the class hampers and for donations in general in each class. Please be generous and ensure the success of the fair. If you would like to help out, run a stall or donate a prize for the raffle, please contact the school office or email – firstname.lastname@example.org. Please ensure that all donations are in school by Wednesday 5th December to enable everything to be prepared. Each class has been given a theme below for hamper and donations and your class parent will be in touch:-
- Nursery: Chocolate and sweets
- Reception: Cuddly toys and games
- Year 1: spa/pamper hampers – 1 for ladies and 1 for gents
- Year 2: cookery/baking equipment
- Year 3: Christmas food/preserves and drinks
- Year 4: stationery and craft and books
- Year 5: sports and afternoon tea
- Year 6: movie night and midnight snack
Please note that there will be NO After School Club on this date to enable everyone to attend the Christmas Fair.
The tickets for our Christmas school raffle will be sent home shortly. These will be £5 a book and each child will be given 2 books. More books will be available on request from the main office and a prize will be given in both key stages for the child who sells the most. There are some wonderful prizes so please try and sell to family, neighbours and work colleagues to make this a profitable income for the school.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
We would like to encourage you, as an alternative to buying sweets or cakes for your child’s birthday, to purchase a board game, playground equipment or a book for our school library which will then have a name plate with your child’s name placed inside the front cover. Please choose a book that you know your own child would like.
Well done to Year 2 for 100% attendance this week. Unfortunately, there were no classes with perfect punctuality this week. The number of lates has greatly decreased this week so keep up the good work! Please try to ensure that your children are here on time for the start of the day. Hopefully next week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
Contact Details Please can you inform the office if you have any new contact details (email address, phone, address, etc).
