Good luck to our Year 6 pupils sitting examinations this weekend.
Well done to the following children who will be the School Council representatives for this term: Kazmeraa, Rachel, Kayla G, Dia and Kosi.
NSPCC Speak out, Stay safe
This week we welcomed Janine from NSPCC to talk to us about their Speak safe campaign. Year 5&6 will continue to think about this is a workshop next Wednesday along with the whole school taking part in Buddy’s Dance-a-thon. Please help your child to find people to sponsor them to raise money for the NSPCC’s good works. The envelopes need to be returned by 27th September.
Year 6 visit St Edmund’s College
On Tuesday 10th September Year 6 visited St Edmund’s College in Ware for a taster day. They experienced what school life was like at the College taking part in RE, Maths and PE lessons and asking questions to the Head of Elements. A wonderfully busy but enjoyable day!
We will be celebrating the Harvest Festival on Friday 5th October and all of the children in each class will be contributing to our celebration. Harvest Festival is a time when we give thanks for all that God has provided for us. Each class will be collecting tinned goods and other non-perishable items to donate to our local food bank. Further information will be sent through your class teachers. This year as part of CAFOD’s Harvest activities we are asking the children to come dressed in bright colours and to support CAFOD by bringing £1.
Meet the Teacher
It was lovely to speak to so many parents at these various meetings over the last week. Many thanks to all those who spared time to be there and thanks to all of the teachers.
Tuesday 17th September Year 6 Meet the Teacher
Nursery Meet the Teacher
Wednesday 18th September Reception Meet the Teacher
Friday 20th September Year 5 Meet the Teacher
Our school Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) will hold its annual general meeting at 5pm on Tuesday 17th September in Year 5 classroom in order to elect a new team. I urge you to consider attending this, as the group plans a number of very successful and enjoyable events through the year such as Christmas Fair, Talent Show and Summer Fair and BBQ. Help and ideas are always welcome. New parents will be especially welcome at the meeting.
Prize Day Trophies
Congratulations to all the children who won their class cup at prize day. A reminder to please have your child’s name engraved and return the cup to the school office as soon as possible. These will then be displayed in our trophy cabinet outside the main office. Thank you to those who have already returned them.
Children must be in their winter uniform from Monday 23rd September onwards ready for school photographs to be taken on that day.
Nursery children should all be wearing nursery jogging bottoms, tops and yellow polos. All children should be wearing black shoes and the girls should only be wearing the revere collar shirts and not shirts that button all the way to the neck. Please note that any coats worn should be one of the two school choice: the Cheltenham jacket or the duffel coat. A reminder that all uniform is sold through Stevenson’s and their online shop (www.stevensons.co.uk) not through the office.
We do have a number of nearly new items for sale which can be found outside the Reception classroom. Please see Mrs Johnson if you wish to purchase anything.
After school club will continue to take place in the Academy dining room for all children. Please ensure that your children are collected by 6:30pm. Please remember to sign your children out when collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time that you have collected your child so that the after school club staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Late Pick Up
A reminder that parents arriving after 6.30pm to collect their children will be charged. As stated in our “Policy for Children Not Collected” the school has to pay overtime to the members of staff supervising your children. I very much regret that it has become necessary to implement the charge policy.
Parents who are late collecting a child will be charged £10.00 for the first 15 minutes (collections from 6.31pm up to 6.45pm) with a further £1 charge for every minute after the first 15 minutes.
We also operate a ‘three-strikes’ and you are out’ policy, whereby repeat offenders will be disallowed from using the after school facility, although this will be exercised with discretion in the case of parents who have bona fide reasons. Late collection places enormous strain on our resources and this acts very much against the interests of the whole school. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
School Clubs and Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular clubs will begin on Monday 16th September with the exception of Origami Club which begins the following week. Please make sure that all permission slips have been returned to Mrs Johnson as soon as possible as the deadline has now passed. The club registers will be posted on the club display board outside of the hall. Remember that the clubs are on a first come first served basis and clubs may fill up. Please help us reinforce the importance of commitment and regular attendance at these clubs. Please note that if numbers are low for certain clubs they may be cancelled.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
All of our up to date policies are available for you to view on our website.
Well done to Reception, Year 3 and Year 5 who had perfect attendance all of last week. Unfortunately, no class has had perfect punctuality so far this term. Hopefully this week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
Please can you inform the office if you have any new contact details (email address, phone, address, etc.).
