Walk to School Week
May Crowning of Our Lady
The liturgy reps led a beautiful prayer service honouring Mary this past Friday. Brya and Ria in Year 6 crowned Mary as the school sang hymns and prayed the fifth glorious mystery, ‘The crowning of our Lady as Queen of Heaven and Earth.’ Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event special.
Walk to School Week
Beginning Monday 15th May to Friday 19th May, pupils will be taking part in the National Walk to School Week. Walk to School Week is run by Redbridge’s Smarter Travel Team. Our school already participates in the Walk to School programme by logging our journeys via travel tracker every morning. During this week, Redbridge encourages all children to try to alter their journeys to a more eco-friendly option.
The next class assembly will be Year 1 and will take place this Friday 19th May at 9:10am. As always, parents and friends are invited to attend.
The Smarties Challenge is underway! Please help your children to fill the empty tube with 20 pence pieces by giving them tasks. The class returning the highest percentage of tubes by 30th May will have a picnic in Valentines Park – it would be wonderful if this was able to be a whole school picnic. Currently in the lead are Year 6!
The money raised will go to the PTFA to boost the profits from the summer fair. Our aim this year is to raise funds for computer tablets for the class rooms. This is a large project but with your help and everyone getting involved I am sure that we can succeed.
Plans are underway for the 2017 summer fair! The date of the summer fair is Friday 30th June and tickets will be on sale following the half term break. Any sponsorship from your companies or donations for the raffle would be grateful appreciated. Your class parents will be contacting you within the next few weeks to organise support.
A reminder that holiday club forms have been sent out and must be returned to the office by Friday 19th May. It is important that we have accurate pupil numbers so that we can appropriately staff the club. Hard copies of the form are available outside the main office.
This Thursday, 18th May, is Open morning for prospective parents. It runs from 9.00-12.00 allowing people to drop in during this time without an appointment. If you know of anyone interested in bringing their parents to our school please encourage them to attend.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
The school is still collecting these vouchers. Please put them in the box outside the main school office.
Year 6 continue to display the lost property on Friday mornings for parents and pupils to look through and claim any lost items. After Friday 26th May, any items that have not been claimed will either be donated to charity shops or placed in the second hand uniform shop. Please take some time to check for any lost items over the next two Fridays.
To ensure the safety of our pupils, I would like to kindly ask that you close the school gates securely after you walk through them. These gates are guarded with a security code and any parent with a pupil at the school will have this code. Please do not be afraid to close the gates if you do not know the person behind you. Equally, please do not be offended if a parent closes the gate in front of you as they may not recognise you. We must all work together as a school community to keep our children safe. Thank you very much for your cooperation and help to ensure the safety of our pupils.
Signing Out After School Club
Please remember to sign your children out when collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time that you have collected your child so that the after school club staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Congratulations to Year 2 and Year 4 for 100% attendance last week! Unfortunately there were no classes with 100% punctuality, with Reception only having 1 late. I hope that next week there are more classes with excellent punctuality and attendance.
