Start of Year Liturgy
Our beginning of year liturgy will be held this Friday 22nd September at 10.30am. Mr Nicholson will be joining us to celebrate in the hall. Parents are very welcome to attend.
We will be celebrating the Harvest Festival next Friday 6th October and all of the children in each class will be contributing to our celebration. Harvest Festival is a time when we give thanks for all that God has provided for us. Each class will be collecting tinned goods and other non-perishable items to donate to our local food bank. Further information will be sent through your class teachers.
Meet the Teacher
It was lovely to speak to so many parents at these various meetings over the last few weeks. Many thanks to all those who spared time to be there and thanks to all of the teachers.

School Website Parent area
I am very pleased to announce that a new parent area on our website has been created. In this section you have contact details for each class teacher, a copy of the timetable and access to what is being covered by each class during the week along with any homework given. I hope that this will assist parents by having a quick and easy way to find out what your child is doing without having to contact the school directly. As this area is new I do ask you to have patience with it whilst we iron out any difficulties. If you have any problems please contact the school directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
To log in you need to go to www.urspsi.org.uk/parents
You then need to enter the password (which you will receive via Clarioncall) to access the class pages.
Also available on these pages is the song words and vocal tracks for Young Voices as we practise them each week. I hope this will enable pupils to learn the words more quickly and practise at home.
School Clubs and Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular clubs begin this week. All permission slips should have been returned to the office last week. The club registers will be posted on the club display board outside of the Year 1 classroom. Remember that the clubs are on a first come first served basis and clubs may fill up. Please help us reinforce the importance of commitment and regular attendance at these clubs.
All children should now be in full winter uniform. Nursery children should all be wearing nursery jogging bottoms, tops and yellow polos.
All children should be wearing black shoes and the girls should only be wearing the rever collar shirts and not shirts that button all the way to the neck.
This year we are continuing to introduce the role of class parent to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families. We are looking for parents who would like to represent their child’s class. There will be 2 class parents per class. If you are interested, please see the attached form and return the bottom slip to the office.
Prize Day Trophies
Congratulations to all the children who won their class cup at prize day. A reminder to please have your child’s name engraved and return the cup to the school office as soon as possible. These will then be displayed in our trophy cabinet outside the main office. Thank you to those who have already returned them.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
Our school Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) will hold its annual general meeting at 5pm on Wednesday 11th October in our school hall in order to elect a new team. I urge you to consider attending this, as the group plans a number of very successful and enjoyable events through the year such as Christmas Fair, Talent Show and Summer Fair and BBQ and help and ideas are always welcome. New parents will be especially welcome at the meeting.
After school club will continue to take place in the Academy dining room for all children. The Early Years and Prep after school clubs will be joining together in the prep hall at 5:30pm. Please ensure that your children are collected by 6:30pm.
Well done to Year 2 and Year 6 (11+ exam dates are not counted) who had perfect attendance all of last week. Congratulations to Year 1 who had no lates. Hopefully this week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
Please can you inform the office if you have any new contact details (email address, phone, address, etc.).
