Reminder to Join Us for MacMillan Coffee Morning 28/09/18
Start of Year Mass
Thank you to all of the parents who came to celebrate our Start of Year Mass this morning. It was lovely to have so many people come to share it with us. Thank you to Father Bret for celebrating it for us.
Harvest Festival
We will be celebrating the Harvest Festival on Friday 5th October and all of the children in each class will be contributing to our celebration. Harvest Festival is a time when we give thanks for all that God has provided for us. Each class will be collecting tinned goods and other non-perishable items to donate to our local food bank. Further information will be sent through your class teachers. This year as part of CAFOD’s Harvest activities we are asking the children to come dressed in bright colours and to support CAFOD by bringing £1 – https://cafod.org.uk
Meet the Teacher
It was lovely to speak to so many parents at these various meetings over the last few weeks. Many thanks to all those who spared time to be there and thanks to all of the teachers. Our last meeting is for Nursery and will be held on Tuesday 25th at 3.30pm.
Good luck!
Good luck to our Year 6 pupils sitting examinations this weekend.
Class Parent
This year we are continuing to introduce the role of class parent to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families. We are looking for parents who would like to represent their child’s class. There will be 2 class parents per class. If you are interested, please complete the form sent out last week and return the bottom of the slip to the office.
Uniform
All children will need to be in full winter uniform for the school photo day on Monday 24th September. This should include a blazer and hat to be worn every day. If you are wearing a coat it should be one of the two regulation school coats. Nursery children should all be wearing nursery jogging bottoms, tops and yellow polos.
All children should be wearing black shoes and the girls should only be wearing the rever collar shirts and not shirts that button all the way to the neck.
Prize Day Trophies
Congratulations to all the children who won their class cup at prize day. A reminder to please have your child’s name engraved and return the cup to the school office as soon as possible. These will then be displayed in our trophy cabinet outside the main office. Thank you to those who have already returned them.
Eco Committee
Well done to the following children who will be the Eco Committee representatives for this term: Mariam, Anisha, Ashlyn, Adwaitha, Neha, Cassidy, Benita, Alex, Isabelle, Skye, Momo, Korede, Fatima, Dionne and Arya.
Liturgy representatives
Well done to the following children who will be the Liturgy representatives for this term: Mariam, Anisha, Ashlyn, Adwaitha, Neha, Cassidy, Benita, Alex, Isabelle, Skye, Momo, Korede, Letizia and Gabriella
Lost Property
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
PTFA AGM
Our school Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) will hold its annual general meeting at 5pm on Wednesday 10th October in our school hall in order to elect a new team. I urge you to consider attending this, as the group plans a number of very successful and enjoyable events through the year such as Christmas Fair and Summer Fair and BBQ and help and ideas are always welcome. New parents will be especially welcome at the meeting.
Parent Gate
To ensure the safety of our pupils, I would like to kindly ask that you close the school gates securely after you walk through them. Do not assume that it will close behind you, you need to physically push/pull the door closed. These gates are guarded with a security code and any parent with a pupil at the school will have this code. Please do not be afraid to close the gates if you do not know the person behind you. Equally, please do not be offended if a parent closes the gate in front of you as they may not recognise you. We must all work together as a school community to keep our children safe. Thank you very much for your cooperation and help to ensure the safety of our pupils.
Attendance
Congratulations to Year 2 and Year 3 who had perfect attendance this week. Unfortunately no class had no lates last week. Hopefully this week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
