This Wednesday, 6th March, marked Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent and our time in preparation for Easter. Thank you Father Rob for coming to celebrate our service with us and distributing the ashes to KS2. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came to join us.
On Thursday 7th March, Peter from CAFOD came to share with the school the ‘Give it up challenge’ for Lent. The children learnt about a family living in Bangladesh and how their money could support those who needed it. The children were encouraged to talk about their Lenten promises and how the money they save could be donated to support CAFOD.
World Book Day
Thursday 7th March was World Book Day. The school transformed into a sea of book characters for the day. Pupils took part in a number of different activities and one pupil was chosen from each class as the best dressed. Well done to: Amber, Talia, Kosi, Menaal, Kayla G, Jeremiah, Isabelle and Cassidy for their super costumes!
The Scholastic Book Fair will also be in school until next Wednesday 13th March to link in with World Book Day. Parents have the opportunity to use this link: https://bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/ to purchase a voucher for their child to use at the Book Fair. This means they get an extra 20%. So a £12 voucher costs £10 and a £6 voucher costs £5. Their child can just present this to an adult at the Book Fair to take advantage of the extra 20% which is applicable on any item – not just books. They will not get any change – they must use the voucher!
Easter Egg Raffle
Tickets are currently on sale for our annual Easter Egg raffle which will take place at our final assembly on Friday 5th April. School Council members are selling the tickets, priced at 50p a strip, with the money going to the PTFA.
Cookery Consent Form
As part of the curriculum the children will be doing food technology. If you have not already done so, please complete the consent form attached to the newsletter detailing whether they have any allergies to the ingredients listed.
