Our Value this half term is Perseverance
Our next class assembly will be Year 6 who will hold their class assembly on Friday 10th November at 9:10am.
This Friday 3rd November is Art Day. The children will take part in art activities all day based on the book ‘The Dot’ by Peter Reynolds. The work created by the pupils will be put on display in the hall in the Ursuline Gallery. Each class will then visit the gallery to see the fabulous artwork created. The gallery will also be open to parents from 3pm onwards. To get into the spirit of the day children are asked to dress in dotty clothing.
On Thursday 19th October the whole school took part in our new look House relay. Pupils were split into mixed age groups and took part in a range of different relay activities collecting points for their house. A big thank you to Mr Agyemang for organising it and a thank you to staff and the sports leaders for helping on the day. The results will be announced at Merit assembly this Thursday.
Year 1 trip to Redbridge Museum
On Tuesday 17th October the children in Year 1 went to the Redbridge Museum and learnt about toys from the past. They also learnt about how Ilford has changed over time.
Year 6 DT day
On Wednesday 18th October Year 6 spent the day making World War 2 shelters for their DT topic this term. They worked in groups using a variety of joining techniques to make their shelters strong and historically accurate.
Our Value this half term
This half term our value is PERSEVERENCE. We can show this in school by:
- Being brave and having a go
- Finding different strategies and ways of doing things
- Try, try, try again
- Entering the learning pit!
Energy Saving Month
From 6th November until 6th December it is energy saving month. The Eco-committee are working hard to ensure that staff and pupils know ways that they can help us to save energy such as turning off lights and taps, ensuring computer screens are put on standby and closing any doors and windows. If we are able to save energy during this month there will be a special dress up day next term!
St Ursula Day Mass
On Friday 20th October we celebrated Mass for St Ursula. Thank you to Father Rob for coming to celebrate with us. Thank you also to all of the parents who came to celebrate with us.
The role of class parent is to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families.

School Website Parent area
I am very pleased to announce that a new parent area on our website has been created. In this section you have contact details for each class teacher, a copy of the timetable and access to what is being covered by each class during the week along with any homework given. I hope that this will assist parents by having a quick and easy way to find out what your child is doing without having to contact the school directly. As this area is new I do ask you to have patience with it whilst we iron out any difficulties. If you have any problems please contact the school directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
To log in you need to go to www.urspsi.org.uk/parents
You then need to enter the password (which you have received via Clarioncall) to access the class pages.
Also available on these pages is the song words and vocal tracks for Young Voices as we practise them each week. I hope this will enable pupils to learn the words more quickly and practise at home.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
On the 31st October – 7th November we will be having our first book fair for this academic year. This is a great opportunity for you to buy new reading material for your children (and maybe to buy some early Christmas presents!). It will be located in the dining hall at after school club from 3.30pm – 4.30pm on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and following Monday.
The first PTFA event is the Christmas Fair. The Fair will be held on Thursday December 7th from 4.00 – 7.00 pm.
If you have ideas about the Christmas Fair or would like to assist in planning or helping at the event, we want to hear from you. If you are able, please attend the next PTFA meeting which will be held on November 2nd at 5pm. If possible it would be very helpful if all class parents were able to attend. If you are not able to attend but have ideas and/or would like to offer your help, please email the PTFA Events Coordinator, Soniyah Khan (email@example.com).
The aim of the Christmas Fair is to celebrate and enjoy with the entire Ursuline family of staff, parents and students. It is also an opportunity for us to raise funds for the school and our children. We are hoping all parents will help by reaching out to people they know to find donations of any kind (e.g. food, gifts) and/or sourcing businesses that may want to advertise or donate something for the Fair.
The minutes of the last PTFA and the Treasurer’s report are available on the URSPI website by following the link:-
After school club will continue to take place in the Academy dining room for all children. The Early Years and Prep after school clubs will be joining together in the prep hall at 5:30pm. Please ensure that your children are collected by 6:30pm.
Please can you inform the office if you have any new contact details (email address, phone, address, etc).
