May Crowning of Our Lady
Thank you to Year 2 for a very entertaining and informative assembly on the importance of following rules especially Jesus’ teaching of ‘loving one another as I have loved you.’ The next class assembly is Year 1 on Friday 19th May at 9.10am. As always, parents and friends are invited to attend.
Year 1 Trip to Benjamin Franklin House
On the 2nd May Year 1 went to visit ‘Benjamin Franklin’s House’ and learnt about the history of Benjamin Franklin and what he did when he lived in London. They also looked at the history and the style of the house and created their own Georgian home using a range of materials. The children also had an additional workshop in school to review what they had learnt and to imagine how their favourite invention will change in fifty years’ time.
May Crowning of Our Lady
It is a Catholic tradition to honour Mary, our Mother, during the month of May by placing a crown of flowers on her statue. This lovely devotional ceremony is held in many parishes and schools worldwide. The May Crowning gives the children an opportunity to especially honour the Blessed Mother of Jesus, and to give thanks to her for bringing our Saviour into the world. Our school will be honouring Mary with a special prayer service and crowning this Friday 12th May at 9.10am.
Year 6 SATS
This week the Year 6 pupils will be sitting the SATs (Standardised Attainment Tests). We wish them well as they complete this final exam of their primary school career.
Trinity Term Student Council Representatives
Congratulations to the pupils who have been selected to represent their classes on the student council for this term. They are: Aashni, Puja, Neha, Skye, Jeremiah and Daniella. A very big thank you to the pupils who served their classes well during the Lent term!
The children should now be in the summer uniform. For girls this is the summer dress, white socks, blue cardigan, blazer and boater straw hat. For boys this is the same as winter uniform, including caps, but charcoal shorts may be worn. A reminder that our school uniform shop is an online service. This will include occasional pop up shop events at suitable times for parents, the next being 19th July. www.stevensons.co.uk
For the Summer term there is a new lunch menu. Children will select which option they would like each day. Hard copies are available outside the office.
The Smarties Challenge is underway! Please help your children to fill the empty tube with 20 pence pieces by giving them tasks. The class returning the highest percentage of tubes by 30th May will have a picnic in Valentines Park – it would be wonderful if this was able to be a whole school picnic.
The money raised will go to the PTFA to boost the profits from the summer fair. Our aim this year is to raise funds for computer tablets for the class rooms. This is a large project but with your help and everyone getting involved I am sure that we can succeed.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
The school is still collecting these vouchers. Please put them in the box outside the main school office.
Signing Out After School Club
Please remember to sign your children out when collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time that you have collected your child so that the after school club staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Holiday club forms have been sent out to be returned to the office by Friday 19th May. It is important that we have accurate pupil numbers so that we can appropriately staff the club. Please complete the forms and return them to the office. Hard copies of the form are available outside the main office.
Congratulations to Year 2 and Year 4 for 100% punctuality last week! Congratulations to Year 3 and Reception for having 100% attendance. I hope that next week there are more classes with excellent punctuality and attendance next week.
Please can you inform the office if you have any change in your contact details (email address, phone, address, etc.).
