A very big thank you to all of the teachers who helped plan the Harvest Festival Assembly and to the parents who came to watch. Thank you to the children who generously donated non-perishable food items. The day was a massive success and we collected a great deal of food for the Redbridge Food Bank. Congratulations to Year 1 for bringing the most food items in and to Year 4 for their fantastic pumpkin design!
Macmillan Coffee morning
Thank you to all who donated or baked and came to share with us for our coffee morning. We raised a fabulous £340.
Janine and Buddy returned from the NSPCC this week to give us an update on the amount of money raised through our Dance-a-thon. Thank you to everyone who found sponsorship in helping us raise an amazing £1218.77.
Year 5&6 visit to Kenneth More Theatre
On Wednesday 2nd October Year 5&6 visited the Kenneth More Theatre to listen to Onjali Rauf talk about her Redbridge Book prize winning novel ‘The boy at the back of the class’. It was an inspiring and motivational discussion about refugees and the pupils also got an opportunity to receive a signed copy of her book to read.
The children in Years 2-6 will be taking the Incas tests next week. These tests enable us to set targets for the children, adjust lesson planning to cater to their needs and track their progress.
A reminder that the next PTFA meeting will be held on Monday 7th October at 4.00pm.
The different times are being run to establish which is the best option for most parents. Please join them if you possibly can.
This year we are continuing to introduce the role of class parent to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families. Thank you to those who have already volunteered. Please see the list below. We do, however, still need someone for Year 5?
Prize Day Trophies
Congratulations to all the children who won their class cup at prize day. A reminder to please have your child’s name engraved and return the cup to the school office as soon as possible. These will then be displayed in our trophy cabinet outside the main office. Thank you to those who have already returned them.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
Congratulations to Year 3 who had perfect attendance this week. Well done to Year 4 and Year 5 for perfect punctuality last week. Hopefully this week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
Please can you inform the office if you have any new contact details (email address, phone, address, etc.).
