Start of Year Mass
Our beginning of year Mass will be held this Friday 22nd September at 10.45am. Father Bret will be joining us to celebrate in the hall. Parents are very welcome to attend.
We will be celebrating the Harvest Festival on Friday 5th October and all of the children in each class will be contributing to our celebration. Harvest Festival is a time when we give thanks for all that God has provided for us. Each class will be collecting tinned goods and other non-perishable items to donate to our local food bank. Further information will be sent through your class teachers. This year as part of CAFOD’s Harvest activities we are asking the children to come dressed in bright colours and to support CAFOD by bringing £1.
Year 6 visit St Edmund’s College
On Tuesday 11th September Year 6 visited St Edmund’s College in Ware for a taster day. They experienced what school life was like at the College taking part in Science and PE lessons, visiting the library and asking questions to the Head of Elements. A wonderfully busy but enjoyable day!
Year 6 Football tournament
The boys in Year 6 had a fantastic opportunity to play in a tournament with other schools from the Redbridge area. This exciting event was held at The Forest Academy School in Hainault. Other schools included Aldersbrook (who were the tournament winners) John Bramston, Coppice, Chadwell and Glade. Our boys gave a valiant effort with Raphael being our top goal scorer. Well done to all the boys. We look forward to playing in the tournament again next year.
Meet the Teacher
It was lovely to speak to so many parents at these various meetings over the last week. Many thanks to all those who spared time to be there and thanks to all of the teachers.

School Website Parent area
In this section you have contact details for each class teacher, a copy of the timetable and access to what is being covered by each class during the week along with any homework given. I hope that this will assist parents by having a quick and easy way to find out what your child is doing without having to contact the school directly. If you have any problems please contact the school directly on email@example.com
To log in you need to go to www.urspsi.org.uk and click on the Parents tab. You will need to enter a password to be able to access the content. If you require the password please ring or email the office.
To ensure the safety of our pupils, I would like to kindly ask that you close the school gates securely after you walk through them. Do not assume that it will close behind you, you need to physically push/pull the door closed. These gates are guarded with a security code and any parent with a pupil at the school will have this code. Please do not be afraid to close the gates if you do not know the person behind you. Equally, please do not be offended if a parent closes the gate in front of you as they may not recognise you. We must all work together as a school community to keep our children safe. Thank you very much for your cooperation and help to ensure the safety of our pupils.
School Clubs and Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular clubs begin on Monday 17th September. Bollywood dancing will commence on 24th September. All permission slips should have been returned to the office by yesterday. If you have not yet returned the form, please do so as quickly as possible. The club registers will be posted on the club display board outside of the Year 1 classroom. Remember that the clubs are on a first come first served basis and clubs may fill up. Please help us reinforce the importance of commitment and regular attendance at these clubs.
All children will need to be in full winter uniform for the school photo day on Monday 24th September. This should include a blazer and hat to be worn every day. If you are wearing a coat it should be one of the two regulation school coats.
All children should be wearing black shoes and the girls should only be wearing the revere collar shirts and not shirts that button all the way to the neck.
This year we are continuing to introduce the role of class parent to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families. We are looking for parents who would like to represent their child’s class. There will be 2 class parents per class. If you are interested, please see the attached form and return the bottom slip to the office.
Prize Day Trophies
Congratulations to all the children who won their class cup at prize day. A reminder to please have your child’s name engraved and return the cup to the school office as soon as possible. These will then be displayed in our trophy cabinet outside the main office. Thank you to those who have already returned them.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
Our school Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) will hold its annual general meeting at 5pm on Wednesday 10th October in Year 5 classroom in order to elect a new team. I urge you to consider attending this, as the group plans a number of very successful and enjoyable events through the year such as Christmas Fair, Talent Show and Summer Fair and BBQ. Help and ideas are always welcome. New parents will be especially welcome at the meeting.
Midday Assistant position
We are recruiting for someone to join our team as a midday assistant, working from 11.15am – 1.15pm, 5 days a week, term time only. If you or anyone you know may be interested in the position, please send a CV to firstname.lastname@example.org.
After school club will continue to take place in the Academy dining room for all children. The Early Years and Prep after school clubs will be joining together in the prep hall at 5:00pm. Please ensure that your children are collected by 6:30pm.
