Happy Half Term!
I wish you all a happy and restful break and look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 4th June.
Thank you very much to Year 1 for their entertaining assembly on ‘Chicken Licken’ this morning. What lovely acting, singing and ukulele playing on show! Thank you to all of the friends and family who came along to watch.
The next class assembly will be Reception and will take place on Friday 21st June at 9:10am. As always, parents and friends are invited to attend.
World Religion Day
The purpose of World Religion Day is to highlight that the spiritual principles underlying the world’s religions are harmonious, and that religions play a significant role in uniting everyone. On Monday 20th May we celebrated all religions by dressing up to reflect our faiths. We began with an assembly led by Year 3 who made a fantastic effort to learn their lines. We found out that there are over 700 different religions throughout the world! When we got back to class, we did a number of activities to help us develop a better understanding of faiths different to ours and found the similarities and differences very interesting. Thank you to everyone for making it a special day.
Year 3 & 4 retreat at Desenzano House.
On Tuesday, Years 3 and 4 enjoyed a lovely afternoon retreat at the new Dezenzano House on Coventry Road. As it was a beautiful day, we were able to enjoy the garden and decorated tea light holders to take home for someone special. Through creative activities and reflections on the awe and wonder of God’s love, we came back to school feeling inspired by our experience. Thank you to our Ursuline Youth Links co-ordinator, Hannah, for making it a special afternoon.
On Friday 14th June we will hold our annual Sports Day at Cricklefields Athletic Ground, High Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1UE. We are hoping to commence the races at 9.00am and it would be very helpful if parents could take their children directly to the grounds by 8.50am and join us for this event. If you are unable to take them straight there we will provide transport for them from school. In order to get buses of the correct size, we need to know numbers in advance. Please inform the office as soon as possible if you require transport for the day.
Sun hats and water bottles
As the weather improves I would like to remind you of the importance of wearing a sun hat during play time and lunch time and bringing a water bottle to school every day. The sun hat should be the school regulation hat and we are hoping to have a supply in the office after the half term break. Water bottles, which can be refilled through the day, should be clearly marked with the child’s name. Sun cream should be applied before the children come to school.
Signing In and Out for Breakfast and After School Club
Please remember to sign your children in and out when delivering them to breakfast club and collecting them from the after school club. It is very important to write the time to ensure that staff are able to keep an accurate record of pupils present. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Can I please remind everyone that the parking bays in the front of the school are for staff only and must not be used in the morning for dropping off. This is currently causing staff lateness which impacts on your own children.
Congratulation to Year 3 who had no absences this week. Congratulation to Year 3 and Year 2 who had no lates this week. Hopefully next week we will have even more classes with no absences and no lates. Please be reminded that any term time absences should be requested and authorised by the headteacher using the absence request form which can be found in the main office.
Please can you inform the office if you have any change in your contact details (email address, phone, address, etc.).
