Easter Holiday Club
Holiday club will run from Monday 8th April to Wednesday 17th April. The first week it will be held in the Prep School and the second three days it will be held in the Academy dining hall. Work is being undertaken over the holidays so we request that parents do not park in the Staff parking bays as they will be needed for work vehicles. School reopens on Tuesday 23rd April.
The KS1 and KS2 Easter Service will take place on Tuesday 2nd April at 1:30pm, in SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Ilford. At this Service, we will be reflecting on the time of Lent and continuing our preparations for Easter. We would be very happy if you were able to join us for this very special occasion. If you wish to take your child directly from the church at the end of the service then you will be able to do so, otherwise the children will be brought back to school where After School Club will run as normal.
Easter Bonnet Parade
We will hold our annual Easter Bonnet/Hat parade during assembly on Friday 5th April. We look forward to seeing the lovely designs from the children! The more creative the better.
Easter Egg Raffle
Tickets are currently on sale for our annual Easter Egg raffle which will take place at our final assembly on Friday 5th April. School Council members are selling the tickets, priced at 50p a strip, with the money going to the PTFA.
On Tuesday 26th March Year 5 attended a retreat at the new Walsingham House at Abbotswick. The theme of the day was the ‘Parable of Talents’, enabling the children to think about their own talents and achievements. The children enjoyed their day celebrating with a prayer service to show what they had learnt through the day.
Year 6 Benjamin Franklin House
On Tuesday 26th March Year 6 visited the Benjamin Franklin House in London. Following on from their work in science they found out about his life at the house and his experiments that led to the invention of the lightning rod. They also looked at artefacts and parts of the human anatomy linking to the work of William Hewson who also lived in the house at the time. It was a very ‘illuminating’ day!
Year 2 Tower of London
Year 2 battled the district line to the Tower of London, where they enhanced their learning of the Great Fire of London. The class had the opportunity to meet a costumed presenter who described the events of the fire. The presenter used role play to bring the story of the Great Fire of London to life. As well as building on their exiting knowledge, the class also learnt about differences between life today and life in the 1600s. What a great way to learn about a history event in an authentic historic location!
House Tug of War
On Thursday 28th March Reception – Year 6 took part in the annual House Tug of War in Valentine’s Park. The sun shone down on us all as the teams all competed against one another to collect points for their house. House points will be awarded based on their final point totals and will be announced in final assembly next week.
Ice Lolly Fridays
Our ice lolly Fridays will commence on 26th April for a ten-week period. Forms have been sent home with your children and ice lollies will be £6 for the term. Please ensure that these are sent back in time to avoid disappointment.
Cookery Consent Form
As part of the curriculum the children will be doing food technology. If you have not already done so, please complete the consent form detailing whether they have any allergies to the ingredients listed.
