On Friday 29th September Peter from CAFOD came to deliver their Harvest message ‘Brighten it up’ through a whole school assembly. Year 5 & 6 also had workshops on their message of ‘Laudate Si’. They will then work on this further in class time to work towards the Laudate Si award. The children listened intently and were able to provide some excellent answers.
We will be celebrating the Harvest Festival this Friday 6th October and all of the children in each class will be contributing to our celebration. Harvest Festival is a time when we give thanks for all that God has provided for us. Each class will be collecting tinned goods and other non-perishable items to donate to our local food bank. The celebration will start at 9.10 in the hall for our special Harvest assembly. It will continue outside (weather permitting) where each class will use their non-perishable goods to build a structure. The best structure will win a prize. All parents are very welcome to attend.
This year we are continuing to introduce the role of class parent to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families.
Below is a list of class parents to date:-

Science Day Parent Volunteers
Our school-wide science day will be held on Wednesday 11th October. Ms Sheely, our science coordinator is seeking parent volunteers to join KS1 and early Years throughout the day. Letters are available from the School Office.
School Website Parent area
I am very pleased to announce that a new parent area on our website has been created. In this section you have contact details for each class teacher, a copy of the timetable and access to what is being covered by each class during the week along with any homework given. I hope that this will assist parents by having a quick and easy way to find out what your child is doing without having to contact the school directly. As this area is new I do ask you to have patience with it whilst we iron out any difficulties. If you have any problems please contact the school directly on email@example.com
To log in you need to go to www.urspsi.org.uk/parents
You then need to enter the password (which you have received via Clarioncall) to access the class pages.
Also available on these pages is the song words and vocal tracks for Young Voices as we practise them each week. I hope this will enable pupils to learn the words more quickly and practise at home.
Well done to the following children who will be the School Council representatives for this term: Amarah, Adwaitha, Nakai, Sunveer and Vihaan.

All children should now be in full winter uniform including school coats, scarf and hat. Nursery children should all be wearing nursery jogging bottoms, tops and yellow polos.
All children should be wearing black shoes and the girls should only be wearing the rever collar shirts and not shirts that button all the way to the neck. The new duffle coats look very smart.
Prize Day Trophies
Congratulations to all the children who won their class cup at prize day. A reminder to please have your child’s name engraved and return the cup to the school office as soon as possible. These will then be displayed in our trophy cabinet outside the main office. Thank you to those who have already returned them.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
Our school Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) will hold its annual general meeting at 5pm on Wednesday 11th October in our school hall in order to elect a new team. I urge you to consider attending this, as the group plans a number of very successful and enjoyable events through the year such as Christmas Fair, Talent Show and Summer Fair and BBQ and help and ideas are always welcome. New parents will be especially welcome at the meeting.
After school club will continue to take place in the Academy dining room for all children. The Early Years and Prep after school clubs will be joining together in the prep hall at 5:30pm. Please ensure that your children are collected by 6:30pm.
Congratulations to Year 2 who had no lates. Well done to Year 2 and Year 4 for no absences. Hopefully this week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
