Our next class assembly will be Year 6 who will hold their class assembly on Friday 10th November at 9:10am. All parents are invited to attend.
Friday 3rd November was Art Day. The children took part in art activities all day based on the book ‘The Dot’ by Peter Reynolds. The work created by the pupils was put on display in the hall in the Ursuline Gallery. Each class visited the gallery to see the fabulous artwork created. Please see the attached Art Day newsletter for more details.
Energy Saving Month
From 6th November until 6th December it is energy saving month. The Eco-committee are working hard to ensure that staff and pupils know ways that they can help us to save energy such as turning off lights and taps, ensuring computer screens are put on standby and closing any doors and windows. If we are able to save energy during this month there will be a special dress up day next term!
Congratulations to the Year 6s for their first round of secondary entrance examinations. Our children received excellent results across Redbridge, Essex and Kent examinations. Full details will be sent as the year progresses.
Year 6 Retreat to Walsingham House
Year 6 attended a residential retreat at Walsingham House on Wednesday and Thursday of last week. The pupils spent time reflecting on their different gifts and talents and what it means to be part of God’s family. Their time on retreat helped them to bond as a class and prepare them for their transition into secondary school.
Letters have gone out to all classes regarding parent/teacher meetings this week.
Please do reply as soon as possible to confirm your meeting time. Mr Agyemang will be available to meet with parents on Thursday evening. Please let the class teacher know if you wish to make an appointment with him. He is located next to the Year 6 classroom. Mrs McNaughton will be available for Year 6 parents on both Wednesday and Thursday.
This year we are continuing to introduce the role of class parent to help improve communication between home and school and also to increase parent involvement. Class parents are the coordinators of support for your child’s class. They help organise support for teachers and class room activities as needed and facilitate a sense of community among the children’s families. They strengthen communication between the school and the families.

School Website Parent area
The new parent area on our website is proving to be a great asset. In this section you have contact details for each class teacher, a copy of the timetable and access to what is being covered by each class during the week along with any homework given.
To log in you need to go to www.urspsi.org.uk/parents
You then need to enter the password (which you have received via Clarioncall) to access the class pages.
Also available on these pages is the song words and vocal tracks for Young Voices as we practise them each week. I hope this will enable pupils to learn the words more quickly and practise at home.
Please make sure that your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. There are a number of items already in lost property. The Year 6 pupils will be displaying lost property for collection each Friday morning before school. Please be advised that if there is no name and it has not been claimed, uniform items will be sent to the used uniform shop and non-uniform items will be given to the local charity shop.
Tonight is the last day of the Book fair this term. This is a great opportunity for you to buy new reading material for your children (and maybe to buy some early Christmas presents!). It will be located in the dining hall at after school club from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.
The first PTFA event is the Christmas Fair. The Fair will be held on Thursday December 7th from 4.00 – 7.00 pm and you should be hearing from the PTFA and your class parents about the many exciting things being planned.
The aim of the Christmas Fair is to celebrate and enjoy with the entire Ursuline family of staff, parents and students. It is also an opportunity for us to raise funds for the school and our children. We are hoping all parents will help by reaching out to people they know to find donations of any kind (e.g. food, gifts) and/or sourcing businesses that may want to advertise or donate something for the Fair.
The children will be decorating and filling jars for a tombola stall. Can we please ask that you save any empty jam jars or similar with lids and send these into school?
Please note that the afterschool club on 7th December will finish at 4.00pm to enable you to collect your child and attend the Christmas Fair.
Well done to Year 2 and Year 3 for no late children this week. Unfortunately there was no class this week with no absences. Hopefully this week we have even more classes with no absences and no lates.
Please can you inform the office if you have any new contact details (email address, phone, address, etc).
